Private Secretary

I joined as Private Secretary to Vice-Chancellor in the second week of May 2011. It was a surprise call by Prof. V.G. Talawar inquiring about my opinion to take up the new assignment. I was thrilled. In fact, I wanted some change. I got it when I just needed.

My past two months experience is great. I am learning many things over here. Lot of people to talk to, lot of work to do, lot of fun as well.

English Improvement Resource

We constantly encounter problems in usage of words. Chicago Manual of Style is a resource which helps to overcome this problem. I have subscribed (free) for their Question and Answer (Q&A). It helps me to get answers for many doubts. Today, I just visited the site http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/CMS_FAQ/qatopics.html.

Reference Manager Software

I have been working with a few referencing software. I am yet to master one! I find new features in each of them. I am interested only in open source version. The reason is obvious. I don't have enough penny to purchase the commercial ones. Some of the software that I am working include Zotero, Mendeley, JabRef, CiteUlike, Bibme, RefWorks, Referencer(Linux), Connotea, etc.

Koha Exam Online

I have a special experience today when I conducted the practical exam on Koha in cloud computing mode. It was possible with the positive cooperation of OSS Labs. They extended all their support during training and examination period. This environment has remove all the headaches for us regarding installation and maintenance of the software. My personal thanks to OSS Labs for this.
